Our community gathers again to extend help to those affected by Super Typhoon Rai (locally known as Odette).
Rai, a category 5 cyclone, which made landfall on Thursday last week has left many Filipinos displaced and homeless. Death toll has surged to 375 and hundreds are still missing. Communication lines are still out in many parts of the Visayas-Mindanao region; some members in our community here in Darwin are still unable to contact their families. Over 1,500 evacuation centres are overcrowded as they accommodate thousands of families who have lost their homes and ways of living.
